Santini is new technical partner to the World Tour team Trek-Segafredo from 2018 and the new race clothing was unveiled today during a presentation at a training camp and media day in Sicily below the snow-covered slopes of Mount Etna.

The 28 cyclists on the team will all wear our top-of-the range custom line and receive full training kits capable of tackling all seasons and all conditions with ease, not least the Beta collection which offers multi-weather protection through spring, autumn and winter.

“This partnership slots right into the company’s long tradition of ‘dressing’ professional teams,” commented Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear. “And it is also synonymous with the superb technical, quality and personalisation standards that Santini is able to guarantee prestige teams of the likes of Trek-Segafredo.” Santini will also make a range of special products exclusively for the team, including the Genio road race skinsuit developed with the assistance of Trek-Segafredo road racer and pistard Eugenio Alafaci and made solely for the team with inserts in Sitip fabric featuring anti-tear and abrasion-resistant Dyneema®.

Luca Guercilena, General Manager of Trek-Segafredo: «Right from the start of our collaboration I sensed that the people at Santini were very motivated and driven to deliver to Trek-Segafredo a superior quality and service. The fact that we can present today both our training as our racing kit for 2018 is a result of that and makes me very proud. Safety is an important issue for Trek-Segafredo. Therefor we expect our riders as of January 1st to train only in the high visibility clothing, with the Bontrager daytime running lights always on. I particularly like the new design of both kits, for training and for the race, that are very much in line with the 2017 but still refreshingly different. The red kit will be used solely for racing».

The main race kit, which differs from the training versions only in terms of the colour of the jersey (fluorescent yellow), features the team’s signature colours of red (main colour) and black. The aerodynamically-cut jersey is made from Bodyfit, an extremely light but hardwearing fabric that weighs just 90 g per metre. The front, pockets, collar and sides are all made from Rudy, an exceptionally breathable perforated fabric. The sleek aerodynamic fit even extends to the longer raw-cut sleeves and the silicon gripper around the hem that keeps the jersey in the ideal position. The design is completed by a stand-up collar and a long covered zip. The bib-shorts are also extremely light, stretchy and breathable. Thunderbike Power fabric helps ease muscle stress by exerting gentle compression and the highly-efficient raw-cut anti-slip grippers at the leg ends have a second skin effect too. The bib-shorts also feature the innovative C3 chamois which is designed to perfectly follow the body’s contours, absorbing shock whilst still allowing complete freedom of movement. Areas of the body most at risk in falls, such as the sides and back, are protected by Dyneema® by Sitip, which is tear and abrasion-resistant. Dyneema® is, in fact, one of the toughest materials in the world and is 15 times stronger than steel.

All the Santini garments supplied to the Trek-Segafredo team are 100% Made in Italy by the company’s expert staff using quality locally-sourced materials. Trek-Segafredo replica kits will be available from the Santini online store, and all Trek stores and Santini cycling stores worldwide.
